Afternoon, all!

I’m feeling quite buoyant today – yesterday too. My husband commented on me humming to myself. I think it’s because the first draft is done! Some people have post-book depression. Not me! Post-book elation on this end. The world is suddenly golden once more, my free time starts to loom in the distance, and I begin to plot.

That’s right – I’m already thinking about the next project to work on. Writers (in general) aren’t happy unless they’re pecking at some sort of project. This is definitely true for me – when I’m not writing, I get cranky and irritable and impossible to live with. Writing soothes the savage, PMSing beast that apparently lives under my skin.

So, yeah. I’m thinking of the next project down the line. There goes that cart before the horse thing again…

I’ve been in the mood for some romantic fantasy and I find that it’s really difficult to locate on the shelves. What the hell, shelves? I’ve read everything Sharon Shinn and Marillier have written. I’ve crossed over and read a bunch of YA, too – Shannon Hale, Gail Carson Levine, etc, but I love the adult, super-romantic fantasy novels. I’m not talking a fantasy novel with a romance subplot. Not talking fantasy novels that have a male narrator. Girly, epic, girly girly romantic fantasy. Like Marillier’s HEART’S BLOOD. But, you know, not that book because I’ve already read it.

Suggestions? Am I out of luck?

OMG! Next year for the book? What am I gonna do? I just finished number 2, and are already re-reading #1... And brain fart, but will Remy get her own book? Hmmm... that would be cool... I think...Yeah. definitely cool. :0) Keep up the good writing, cuz it rocks!

    Hi Vicky,

Yes, early next year (I know!). I just finished the first draft of book 3 and will be turning it in to my publisher in a few weeks.

I'm toying with a story for Remy - I love her! If the right story calls to me, I'll write it. :)

A story for Remy, would that be before Jackie? How she became a succubus? How she met Noah and Zane? And what is her connection with Delilah?

    Now that would be interesting.

  • Betty says:

SUGGESTION;.... Perhaps have Remy tell her story --- looking back on her life while still part of Joachim?

  • Jill Myles says:

Hi Betty! I haven't figured out what I'd do for a Remy story (if one at all) but those are not bad ideas! If I think of something, I'll let everyone in blogland know. :)

If your looking for good romantic fantasy, I would try C L Wilson. She has 3 books out in the Tairen Soul series.
High fantasy, girl protag, romance is the central plot. Very good. Or you could try Lisa Shearin. High fantasy, girl protag but romance isn't necessarily the central plot-but still very good. ;)

CL Wilson - yes, epic, fantasy romance

You might also try Lois McMaster Bujold's Chalion novels, starting with the Curse of Chalion.

Anne Bishop - Black Jewels books (which you may have already read) - she has some new ones out lately that return to that world that are worth checking out.

I'm sure I have a few others tumbling around. If the names come to mind, I'll send them over.
