Hey world! I'm emerging (VERY BRIEFLY) to give a quick update on where I'm at.

I just turned in Midnight Liaisons #2 (for this pen name over here). This book took me flippin' forever to finish. I changed plots about midway and was like, oh, hey! That means I have to go back and rework ALL THAT OTHER STUFF I ALREADY WROTE. Anyhow, it is finally, finally done now but it put me behind on my already-tight schedule.

I'm working on the Jackie/Remy short story, SUCCUBUS, INTERRUPTED. I should have that done in the next week or two. Then it's off to my editor. I'm anticipating that it'll be up and available everywhere in mid-November. Why mid-November if it's going to be finished in another week or two? Well, it needs to be edited for starters. And second, I have a big release coming out under a different name and I'd like to give it a little love and attention for a bit. You know how it goes.

That being said! If you sign up for my newsletter, you will get SUCCUBUS, INTERRUPTED for free AND I'll be sending it out to my newsletter folks a week earlier than it'll be available online for sale. If that's not incentive enough to sign up for my newsletter, I don't know what is. A kitten? Perhaps. As a reminder, my newsletter is purely for new releases - I won't spam you with my favorite soup recipe or what cute things my cats did this week. I have Twitter for that.

Once SUCCUBUS, INTERRUPTED is off to bed, I'm hard at work at Bluebonnet #2 (the second in my Berkley Heat series) and a sekrit novella. Both are due in January, so be prepared for me to be tearing my hair out between now and then.

If you're wondering about SUCCUBI ARE FOREVER, it's still coming! I'm writing as fast as I can, but I have basically a book and a half to write between now and January, and once those are turned in, SUCCUBI ARE FOREVER is my top priority. It's going to come out next spring come hell or high water, and it's going to be a firm wrap-up to the series (for Jackie anyhow) and it'll be a blast. I promise I haven't forgotten. I wouldn't forget! It's just that I have that day job and a contractual obligation to do the ones that they pay me for first.

In the meantime, I'm hoping SUCCUBUS, INTERRUPTED will tide everyone over. And, yanno, that new release.

I feel like I've been working on this most recent draft for weeks now (and maybe I have). It started out at 86k, I ripped out about 10k, replaced that, and added some more. I added scenes, deleted scenes, added plots, removed plots...ugh. But I think it's good now. It's a frankenstein monster of a draft, but it's good. I'm reading through one last time to make sure that everything I added is seamless, and to see where one particular subplot needs to be patched up a bit more. Oh, and to see if it's sexy enough.

Then once all that is done, it's off to my editor FOR GOOD. (or at least until a second round of edits come back. or copyedits)

But right now, I'm feeling good about it!

(Still no title for the book. Soon, my pretties! Soon!)

I'm hard at work on some tricksy edits for the next book I have coming out. For those of you that read MY FAIR SUCCUBI, the sneak peek back there is the first chapter. The name of the series is Midnight Liaisons, but there's not a book title juuuust yet. We're still going back and forth on that one. Anyhoo, I'm working a subplot (or three) into the book and have been steadily plowing through edits. I started the weekend at page 23 or so and hoped to finish my page edits before the weekend was over.

Erm. I think I have overestimated my capabilities - the new subplots involve a LOT of rewriting (when I do things, I don't do them halfway...). So I'm at page 75. Yeah. Not even close. Still, it's really shaping up into something that makes me happy, so I consider this a win, even if it's a slow win.

I'm hearing reports of a lot of people picking up MY FAIR SUCCUBI. Some places seem to be putting it out late but I'm hoping it's out there everywhere now! (If you see it at Wal-mart or Target, let me know? I will love you eternally). I've also had a few people ask me about ebooks in Canada. I actually had no idea it wasn't available in ebook in Canada. NO clue as to why not. So I'm asking about that, but please be patient with me as I check with my publisher. It might be a few weeks before we get an answer.

Also? I have been playing Peggle like mad for two reasons: One - it sings Ode To Joy when you win a round. Two - the unicorn cries when you leave. CRIES WHEN YOU LEAVE. That makes my soul happy, for some reason.

So this popped up on PM late yesterday:

Author of GENTLEMEN PREFER SUCCUBI Jill Myles's next book in the Succubus Diaries series, as well as the first book in a new paranormal romance series set at a paranormal dating agency, to Micki Nuding at Pocket, by Holly Root at Waxman Literary Agency (world).

Pause. HOORAY!!!!!!! Pause.

I am so terribly excited to be doing two more books with Pocket! I love my publisher and my editor is fabulous, so I’ve been pretty much on cloud nine since RWA, when we discussed the new books.

What this deal contains:

Book 3 of the Succubus Diaries, which I am calling MY FAIR SUCCUBI. It picks up where book 2 left off, in the ongoing series of my characters that starred in both book 1 and book 2. Things will be wrapped up. Other things will be called into question. Sex will be had. It will be glorious. And fun.

(For those of you that have asked me if the books are a typical romance…yes and no. YES in that the relationships drive the entire story. NO in that it’s not all wrapped up in a bow and happily ever after at the end of Book 1. I’ve compared it to the Katie Macalister Aisling Grey series – which are totally hilarious, btw – multiple books about the same romantic couple. They’ll get their happily ever after, naturally, but we’re going to play with the relationship for a bit longer. In evil, evil ways. Fun ways, but mostly evil. I do have a definite end in mind, though.)

MY FAIR SUCCUBI (title subject to change) comes out in February 2011. Kind of a ways away – a full year out from book 2. But I’ll be posting short stories set in the same world and teasers to my website along the way, so hopefully it will not feel so long.

The book deal ALSO includes a new book, which is tentatively called HEAT. This book *is* a more traditional romance. It’s a very loose series that will be based on different sets of characters that work for – or interact with – a dating agency that caters exclusively to paranormal clients. At the agency, clients don’t like to date vampires because they’re not into corpses. Werewolves don’t date outside their kind. Were-cougars and were-foxes might mix it up with a were-bear, but never a were-deer. And pretty much no one wants to date the harpy. Naturally, this makes matchmaking a little bit tricky.

The first book stars Bathsheba Ward, the office manager of Midnight Liaisons (the dating agency). Humans are forbidden to date members of the Paranormal Alliance, but she’s been blackmailed into going out with a male were-cougar who is in desperate need of a date (even a yucky human one).

I’m really excited about this one, because it was a ton of fun to write and I can’t wait to see what everyone else thinks about it. I’m noodling with a loose sequel, and I can’t wait to tell more stories in this setting. This one is scheduled for August 2011.

I’ll be updating my webpage with more info on the new series soon enough. But right now, I’m just super excited to have more books with Pocket Books.

Hooray!
